The European and international dimensions of qualifications frameworks is increasingly important. Significant numbers of learners and workers are travelling to other countries to access further learning or employment. This section of the website provides information about conferences and communiques, including information on Bologna, the Lisbon Agenda and the European Qualifications Framework.

Bologna
The Irish National Framework of Qualifications is aligned with the Bologna Framework (the Framework for Qualifications of the European Higher Education Area). The Qualifications Authority has published an information booklet on the Framework, entitled Introducing the Bologna Framework of Qualifications and also Verification of Compatibility of Irish National Framework of Qualifications with the Bologna Framework.

European Qualifications framework for Lifelong Learning (EQF)

Qualifications Frameworks Conference April 2010
In April 2010, The National Qualifications Authority of Ireland and the Higher Education Authority organised a conference, entitled:
National Qualifications Frameworks and the European Overarching Frameworks: Supporting Lifelong Learning in European Education and Training
The aim of the conference was to bring stakeholders involved with the Bologna process, the EQF and Qualifications Recognition together to contribute to building mutual trust and understanding in order to better achieve the shared goals of supporting individuals’ lifelong learning and mobility.
